I am a Virginia Tech (VT) alumni with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. I have years of experience with adult education as well as tutoring students on the high-school and college level. I not only focus on the subject matter, but address how to learn and how to effectively study. My mantra: teach powerful ways of thinking about problem-solving…its not just about the math!
I have experience tutoring many college students (including my own daughter who is also a VT grad). I am adept at teaching in person, or via an online interactive tool (idroo.com), so distance does not matter. The idroo.com interactive whiteboard is highly beneficial, as I will tutor in small blocks of time as needed, when a student may just need help with a smaller set of problems. I tutor in many math and engineering classes, physics, and prep for MCATs, GMATs, SAT and ACT.

I have tutored now in subjects ranging from basic algebra up thru college level courses in Engineering (Statics, Dynamics, etc.), Physics, Calculus I, II, III, Differential Equations, applied Probability and Statistics. I have enjoyed assisting students to higher standardized test scores in GMAT, MCAT, SAT and ACT. My clients have ranged in age from 12 yr old middle schoolers, to 40-something yr old adults improving themselves with continuing education.

BUSINESS CONSULTANT
Consulting and Web Design
My creative and advisory side kicked in here, as I helped business owners express themselves through their company websites.
In this context, I assisted small business owners in the process of identifying key aspects of their business and products that they desired to share through the internet.
I then designed and created all aspects of a functioning and business-driving website for these clients.

OUTSIDE PROJECTS BUSINESS
Tree Work & Deck Design / Build
Followed an itch to get outdoors for a few years, and get my hands dirty.

Had a blast working with a friend and business partner. Together, we had fun felling trees, grinding stumps, designing and then building decks for our clients.

HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER
Algebra I & II Teacher
Spent a short time (3 months) discovering that I am NOT a classroom teacher. Especially for students who (daily) make it clear that they do NOT want to be there.
I have extreme respect for teachers having to teach under the conditions that teachers experience. You are highly underpaid.

MANUFACTURING CONSULTANT
Company: Maxager Technology
Worked about 1.5 years for and with Maxager Technology in a fun experience that saw me traveling the US on a weekly basis. My major clients included Motorola (Phoenix, AZ), a steel beam manufacturer (Hope, AK), and our home base (San Rafael, CA, a suburb of San Francisco).

My major role for this company ended up being the creation of training materials critical for our own employees and our clients. My training course was designed to quickly effectively train users on our software systems located at various client locations.
1996-2000
BUSINESS OWNER
First Foray into Self-Owned Business
Sold high-end Spiritual Growth products, tools to help business owners, long distance telephone service, and various other "things".
Meanwhile, I worked various jobs to make more income to actually (kinda) pay the bills, and make ends meet.
Tough learning experiences, but eventually worth going through. And YES, I would do it again, but differently...
1988-1995
PROJECT OFFICER - USAF
Engineering Officer in the Air Force
I spent 4+ years in a System Project Office (SPO) as a project engineer for Titan Launch Systems: Titan 34D, Titan IV Launch Vehicles. Acted as Propulsion systems Manager, Fuels Manager, Payload Fairing Manager; Systems Effectiveness

I then spent 3 years in a Staff Office for the entire base (>7000 employees: military & civilian): developed and implemented training programs; included train-the-trainer programs & self-paced training programs/curriculum; Office purpose: Implementing Total Quality Management (TQM), process-thinking, root-cause analysis, process analysis, systems-thinking type programs.
